Description
The Elms is an early to mid-18th century house that was altered and refaced in the early 19th century. It is constructed of rubble stone, now with a cement render on the front. The house is two storeys and an attic, with a plain tile roof and an east end wall stack. The south front has a two-window range, and appears three storeys high with a parapet. It features sash windows with margin lights and stone sills, set within stone surrounds to the ground floor windows and door. A stone plinth is also present. A lean-to extension has been added to the west side, incorporating a window and a stepped parapet which match the rest of the building.
Inside, there is an earlier 18th century wood staircase in the entrance hall, characterised by panelled ends to the treads and brackets beneath. It has turned balusters. Two fielded panelled doors are also present. An east-side ground floor room is panelled with a moulded dado rail and cornice, and includes a semicircular niche. A rendered rear wing exists, with a larger mid-19th century rear extension beyond. A marble fireplace is in a ground floor room.
