Description
37 Rodwell Road is a mid-19th century house located at the end of a row. It has a rendered exterior and a slate roof. This corner building returns to Rodwell Street at its north end and faces The Rodwell.
The house has three storeys with a three-window front on the north side and four windows on the west side, which is the main street front. All windows are four-pane sashes set on stone sills. In the second bay of the west front, there is a wide arched opening that features a three-panel door flanked by sidelights and panels, topped with a fanlight that has radial bars. The north front includes a bowed oriel window with 4:4-pane sashes and a decorative modillion cornice situated between plain sashes on the ground and second floors. Additional architectural details include a cornice band, blocking, a coped parapet, and a single brick ridge stack.
The interior has not been inspected. This house appears to have been built as part of a small development that includes houses on Rodwell Street, and it shares design similarities with The Rodwell across the street, although with some simplifications in detail.
