Description
No. 9 Rodwell Street is a small house located in a row of mid-19th century properties in Weymouth. It features English garden wall brickwork and a slate roof. The house is two storeys tall with an attic and has one window. Above a plain sash window, there is a raking dormer with a sash window and a bowed oriel window that has a fine modillion cornice, with 4:4:4-pane sashes. To the left of the oriel, there is an elliptical brick arch that frames a four-panel moulded door topped with a shallow fanlight. The house has a moulded wood cornice and a broad brick stack on the right gable. At the rear, which is elevated above Franchise Street, there is a 12-pane sash window.
The property is also notable for its rear retaining wall, which is approximately 3 meters high and is made of rubble. This wall adjoins the return wall from The Rodwell on the right and extends to the left behind Nos. 8 to 6, which are not included in this listing. The interior of the house has not been inspected.
