Description
This building, comprising Alpine and The Cottage, dates from the 18th century. It is located on the North Side of The Green and forms a group with other listed buildings in the area.
The building has a long, two-story front constructed primarily of stone. The extreme left-hand end features a recessed entrance with an 18th-century hood, which includes a dentil cornice and brackets in a state of disrepair. The hood shelters a fanlight with diagonal glazing bars. Adjoining this is a two-story, segmental bow with a flat roof and an iron balustrade supported by stone piers and finials at the parapet.
To the right is a lower stone front, representing a cottage, with a thatched roof. The cottage has wooden casement windows with small panes; most windows are three-light, although the ground floor has a four-light window at the left-hand end. A modern six-panelled door is set within a frame in the second bay from the left-hand end. The Cottage abuts The Green.
