Description

This is an attached barn located 20 metres west of Blackmarsh Farmhouse, dated 1818. The barn features rubble-stone walls and clay-tile roofs with gable ends. On the east side, there are two large square porches that project full height, both gabled and with weatherboarding in the gables. There is a through-passage at the right-hand end leading to the outer yard. The barn has a stable door with fixed windows on either side and another stable door situated between the porches. The main porches are fitted with 2-leaf metal doors. At the south end of the barn, there is a stable that has a half-hipped clay-tile roof and rubble-stone walls, featuring a stable door with a loft door above it. Inside the barn, the roof construction consists of 9 bays from the 19th century, with collars, king-posts, strutted members, and long bracing members extending from the wall plate to the base of the king-post. There are two sets of through-purlins, and the members at the base of the king-post area are bolted together rather than jointed.
