Description
The lych gate with steps and attached churchyard wall dates from the 18th century and is located on the south side of Church Street in Puncknowle. The lych gate features rubble-stone side walls and a hipped stone slab roof, with rough stone benches inside. There are seven stone steps leading up to the lych gate. The north side of the churchyard has a rubble-stone wall approximately 4 feet high, which supports the churchyard and extends for 30 metres. The wall continues for 20 metres along the east side of the yard and then for 27 metres along the south side. There is a gateway with a 4-centred head that provides access to the Manor House, and the wall abuts the corner of the manor house. The west wall, also made of rubble-stone, runs for 23 metres back to the lych gate.
