Description

SY 58 NW PUNCKNOWLE CHURCH STREET, South Side 6/221 Lych Gate with steps and attached Churchyard Wall on 4 sides of yard GV II

Lychgate and attached churchyard Wall. c.C18. Lych-gate has rubble- stone side walls, and a hipped stone slab roof with rough stone benches inside. 7 stone steps up to Lych-gate, c.C18. North side of churchyard has a rubble-stone wall, c.4 ft high, revetting the churchyard, for 30 metres. Rubble wall returns for 20 metres on the east side of yard, then returns for 27 metres on the south side of the yard. Gateway with a 4-centred head re-set giving access to the Manor House. Wall abuts the corner of the manor house. West wall of rubble-stone runs for 23 metres back to lych-gate.
