Description

Old Beams is an 18th-century attached cottage forming part of a row. It has been altered with new windows. The walls are of rubble stone and the roof is thatched. The cottage is two storeys high and has three windows at ground level, each with 2- and 3-light wooden casements incorporating glazing bars. The windows have concrete lintels, which are painted white, and no cills. There are two smaller 2-light wooden casements on the first floor. A lobby provides the entrance, connecting to a block of flats. A 20th-century plank door, fitted with ornamental strap-hinges, is set into the end wall. An ornamental iron gate with a round head, flush with the wall face, is also a 20th-century addition.
