Description
School House is a terraced house that was formerly the schoolmaster's residence for Boyle's Old School. It appears to date from the 18th century but may have origins that are earlier. The building features rubble stone walls and has a brick stack at the right end, which is shared with the school. It stands two storeys tall. The entrance consists of a ledged door with a small glass panel, which is sheltered by a segmental hood supported by shaped brackets. On the ground floor, there are three casement windows with horizontal glazing bars, and the first floor has three similar windows. There is evidence of a further blocked ground floor window and door. Inside, the right ground floor room contains a large open fireplace that has been partially built up, featuring a deep timber lintel, along with one stop-chamfered ceiling beam.
