Description

Higher Farm House is a detached house located on the north side of High Street in Yetminster. It features date stones on the front wall reading "A.W. 1624" and "A.W. 1630". The building is constructed from rubble stone with a hipped asbestos tile roof and brick end stacks. Originally built as a single storey with attics, it now has two storeys.

The front façade includes a pair of part-glazed doors that appear to be in a former window opening, with the head and remnants of the mullion still visible. To the left, there is a blocked doorway. The ground floor has two 4-light stone mullioned windows with hoodmoulds and casements featuring a central horizontal bar. On the first floor, there are two 2-light and two 3-light similar windows, along with a small lozenge-shaped recess at a high level.

At the left end of the house, there is a two-storeyed rear wing with a tiled roof and stone eaves courses, as well as a single-storey rear lean-to with a pantile roof. Inside, the right ground floor room features a large open fireplace with a cambered timber lintel, and there is a rear door in a depressed 4-centred arch. The interior also includes some deep chamfered ceiling beams.

The front boundary wall is low and made of rubble stone, topped with cock and hen coping.
