Description
The Cedars is a house located at the left end of a terrace on High Street in Yetminster. It has origins dating back to the mid-17th century, with alterations made in the 18th century and mid-20th century. The building features rubble stone walls, some of which have ashlar dressings, and a thatched roof with coped gables and brick end stacks. It stands two storeys high with an attic.
The entrance showcases an 18th-century raised panel door set within an ashlar surround, topped by a small gabled hood supported by brackets and featuring an ornamental bargeboard. On the ground floor, there are two sash windows with glazing bars, framed in cemented surrounds. The first floor has three similar windows, and the attic includes two dormers with casement windows.
At the rear, there are large 20th-century extensions constructed with rubble stone walls and double Roman tile roofs. The interior has been significantly altered but still retains one large open fireplace from the 17th century, which features a deep, moulded timber lintel.
