Description
Mrs Williams' Cottage is a building that originally served as a schoolroom and schoolmaster's house, now functioning as a single residence. It was constructed in 1828, with the schoolroom being remodeled in 1855 and the first floor of the house added later in the 19th century. The structure is made of rubble with cut quoins and dressings, featuring slate roofs.
The east elevation is divided into two parts. The schoolroom on the left is a single storey with two bays. It has blocked doorways on either side of a pair of 12-pane sash windows, which are set in stone surrounds. The original arched heads have been replaced with 19th-century lintels. The left gable is coped and has a stone stack.
To the right is the schoolmaster's house, which is two storeys tall with two wide bays. There is a renewed door located right of centre, framed by an alternating-block surround. The house features 12-pane sash windows with tooled-and-margined lintels and slightly projecting sills. The right gable is also coped, with stone end stacks.
At the rear of the schoolroom, there is a boarded door with a tall 6-pane overlight to the left, and a 12-pane sash window, both of which have radial glazing under round-arched heads in stone surrounds.
