Description
Addis Chemists is a late 18th to early 19th century building located at 1 King Street. It features rendered walls and a slate roof, with a gable at the east end that has moulded brick coping and a brick stack. The building is two storeys with attics. The ground floor has a 19th-century shop front set within a classical surround. On the first floor, there is one double-hung sash window with glazing bars in the upper sash. The attic includes one dormer with a hipped roof and a pivoted sash window with glazing bars.
The elevation facing Dean's Court Lane has two shop windows on the ground floor, one similar to the King Street shop front and one that is plainer. The first floor features two double-hung sash windows with glazing bars and one blocked window. An adjoining house in Dean's Court Lane appears to be part of No 1 King Street and is likely from the 18th century. It has rendered walls and a tiled roof with a brick dentil cornice at the eaves, along with brick stacks. This building is also two storeys, with a ground floor that has a six-panel door topped by a classical pediment on carved brackets, and three double-hung sash windows with glazing bars. The first floor contains two double-hung sash windows with glazing bars and two blocked windows.
