Description
Wimborne Antiques is an early 19th-century building located on the west side of High Street. It features colourwashed brick walls and a low-pitched slate roof with brick stacks. The building has two storeys. The ground floor includes a central entrance doorway with an elliptical arch of two orders, leading to a six-panel door that is partially glazed. To the south of the entrance is a shop front from the 19th to early 20th century, while to the north is an altered window with modern glazing. On the first floor, there are three double-hung sash windows with glazing bars. There is a single-storey garage extension to the north. Inside, at the rear, there is a circular staircase enclosure that may be older than the main building. This enclosure contains a spiral staircase with spandrel brackets, plain square balusters, and a moulded handrail. Additionally, there are two niches in the wall with ogee-arched heads, and the ceiling features ornamental plasterwork. The building is included for its group value and the notable staircase.
