Description
Church House, dated 1905 on the weathervane, is located on the west side of High Street and adjoins the Minster. It was designed in a free Gothic style to harmonize with the Minster. The building features stone walls made from a mixture of limestone and ironstone, similar to those of the Minster, with roofs concealed behind a parapet. It has two storeys.
The elevation facing High Street includes an arched doorway set in a square frame and a ground floor mullioned window with lead lights. On the first floor, there is a Gothic style window with a four-centred arched head, also featuring lead lights. The elevation towards the churchyard has three large mullioned windows on the ground floor and five similar windows on the first floor, all with lead lights. There are moulded string courses at the first floor level and at the base of the parapet. A commemorative inscription is present on a stone in the front wall, and ornamental iron railings enclose the churchyard. The building is included for its group value with the Minster.
