Description
28 East Street is an early to mid 19th century building constructed of yellow brick with ashlar dressings. It stands two storeys high and features an entablature and pediment supported by giant pilasters that are decorated with incised line ornament, dividing the front into two bays. The first-floor windows are French casements, each flanked by pilasters, with pediments and balustraded stone balconies that are supported on brackets. On the ground floor, there is a three-light sash window with similar detailing. The entrance is located in a recessed porch that has fluted Greek Doric columns, pilasters with incised line ornament, an entablature, and a pediment. The interior has been recently modernised. This building is part of a group that includes Nos 3 to 36 (even) and the United Reformed and Methodist Church.
