Description
Number 26 on East Street is a mid-19th century building made of ashlar stone and stands three storeys tall. It features cornices at both the first floor and parapet level, with a flat string course between. The central bays are slightly recessed and there are four ranges of sash windows. The first-floor windows have architraves and cornices, while the second-floor windows have moulded frames. The ground floor is rusticated and contains two doorways along with four windows that have segmental heads. The rear of the building dates from the 18th century and is rendered, consisting of two storeys with a modillion eaves cornice and four ranges of sash windows with glazing bars. There is also a one-storey red brick extension that includes one sash window and one casement window, both with glazing bars. Numbers 8 to 36 (even) on East Street form a group with the United Reformed and Methodist Church.
