Description
38 St Peter's Street is a late 18th-century building that stands two storeys high and features five windows. It is constructed of yellow brick and has a parapet. Although the high-pitched tiled roof suggests an earlier date, the exterior is predominantly 18th century. The building has gauged, flat brick arches above sash windows that include glazing bars set in broad, near-flush frames. There is a low, rendered plinth at the base.
The classical doorcase is notable for its flat pilasters with fluted quasi-capitals and an entablature adorned with dentils and modillions at the cornice. Above the doorcase is an open pediment that shares similar decorative elements. The recessed door consists of four fielded panels in the upper half, topped with a fluted cornice head and a patterned fanlight. The rear facade is made of red brick and features a Venetian window.
This building is part of a group that includes Nos 28 to 46 (even) and No 50.
