Description

The war memorial, located at the south end of Church Green, was constructed in 1902-1 by Charles Alderton, likely based on designs by Sir Edgar Wigram. Made of Portland stone, it features a tall tapered cross that sits on an octagonal ring. The cross extends outwards into four arms, each topped with pyramidal caps, and is adorned with a stepped cornice above inscription panels that are set on a chamfered cross-plan plinth.
