Description
No 42 on St Peter's Street is a later but exact reproduction of No 40. This building has three storeys and five windows, constructed from blue brick with red brick dressings. It features a stone cornice and a brick parapet, along with a brick band at the first floor. The sash windows, which have glazing bars in broad, near flush frames, are topped with gauged, segmental brick arches. The ground floor sashes have been replaced and the panes are leaded. There is an arched carriageway and three steps leading to the door, which has a moulded architrave and a patterned fanlight. Inside, there is a staircase with spiral turned balusters and a cut string, while the hall and some rooms retain original panelling. Nos 28 to 46 (even) and No 50 form a group with this building.
