Description
Nos 58 and 60 on St Peter's Street is an 18th-century building that was formerly a parish workhouse. The exterior has been significantly altered in the late 19th century. The building has two storeys and features four windows, with a central archway leading to the yard. It has a high-pitched tiled roof and a simple wooden eaves cornice. The structure is made of red brick, decorated with a pattern of blue headers. The later 19th-century windows have segmental heads and an ovolo moulded label above them. There is a sun assurance plaque situated between two recessed panels at the centre of the first floor. This building is noted for its group value and historical associations. Nos 58 to 78 (even) are recognized as a group.
