CHARMINSTER SY 6792 WOLFETON
13/33 Stable Block 10 metres west of Wolfeton House
GV II
Stable block, on south side of yard. Late C17 with C19 insertions of windows and doors. Rear wall appears to utilise earlier boundary walling. Dressed stone walls and ashlar quoins. Clay pantile roof with stone gable coping and level kneelers. One storey with lofts over 6 openings to stable yard. 2-light window. Round headed archway, with rusticated jambs and moulded imposts, both cut back to form the rebate for a door, now disappeared. Projecting key and label over, C17 3-light window, with wide segmental head, fixed windows with iron glazing bars, and wood glazing bars to central pivoting window. C19 doorway with segmental head and plank door. 2-light window. Interior tack room through round-arch entrance and to left. To right, 3 stables with sliding wood doors, grilled in top half. Brick and cobble stone flooring. (RCHM Dorset III p 67(4))
