Description

This is a terrace of five estate cottages located on the south side of the High Street in Puddletown. They were built in 1870. The cottages are constructed of rough ashlar and have slate roofs, with five rough ashlar stacks along the ridge. They are two stories in height. Each cottage has a gabled porch with an ornamental bargeboard and a doorway with a shouldered arched top. Number 25 retains its original flush panel door, while the others have been replaced with 20th-century designs. Each cottage originally featured a mullioned window on the ground floor: one 2-light window under a stone lintel and relieving arch, and a single-light window. The first floor also has two similar 2-light windows with bracketed sills. Originally, all windows were fitted with cast iron glazing. In cottages 21 and 23, the single-light ground floor windows have been replaced by 20th-century metal casements. In number 25, both ground floor windows have been replaced by plain casements. A boundary railing made of iron, with shaped tops, runs in front of the terrace.
