Description

Tudor Cottage is an attached house dated 1573, located on Mill Street in Puddletown. The building features walls made of flint with stone banding and a thatched roof, with one brick chimney stack at the right end and a shared stack at the left end. It has two storeys and a 20th-century battened door set in a moulded four-centred arched opening. On the ground floor, there are two four-light stone mullioned windows with hoodmoulds, featuring lead lights, and a date cut over one window. The first floor has three similar windows without hoodmoulds. At the rear, there is a 20th-century extension that forms a double pile plan. Inside, the left ground floor room includes a large open fireplace with a cambered oak lintel and corbelled stone jambs, while the right end room has a smaller fireplace with a stone lintel. The house also features several deep chamfered ceiling beams, making it a good example of a 16th-century house.
