Description

This is a detached cottage, formerly a lodge to Ilsington House. It was built in 1867. The cottage is constructed of brick with a slate roof, featuring bargeboards on the gables. A brick stack is located at the right end and another near the centre of the building. The layout is L-shaped.

The front elevation, facing the road, has a slightly projecting gabled wing on the left. This wing contains a ground-floor window with two lights and glazing bars, set within a stone, gabled projecting surround. Above it, on the first floor, is a two-light round-headed window with glazing bars. The right-hand section of the front elevation has a similar ground-floor window, and a single square-headed window with glazing bars on the first floor, both set within stone surrounds. A gabled porch with a round-arched doorway is located in the left-end wall of the cottage.

The front of the property is defined by an iron boundary railing, with close-set vertical bars and spiked tops.
