Description
Willoughby Cottage is an attached house, probably from the 18th century, though parts may be older. It features brick walls and a thatched roof, with one brick stack near the center and another shared stack at the right end. The building consists of two parallel ranges: one facing the street and one set back, connected by a link that contains the staircase. The rear range has one storey and an attic, while the front range has two storeys. The right end of the front range is a later addition.
The front entrance has a six-panel door beneath a hipped metal canopy supported by metal brackets. The left section of the ground floor includes two tripartite sash windows with glazing bars, while the first floor has two sash windows with glazing bars and wide architraves. The right section features a two-storey canted bay window with sash windows that have glazing bars and moulded cornices on each floor, along with mock half-timbering between the floors.
The rear range may be older, also with one storey and an attic, and includes some leaded light windows. Inside this range, there is a large open fireplace with a timber lintel and a bread oven, along with some exposed ceiling beams. The staircase has a fretwork balustrade.
