Description
The Old School is a former school building, now converted into a house, located at the left end of The Old Library in Yetminster. It was likely built around 1900 and features rubble stone walls and a tiled roof, which includes some fish-scale tiling. The building has two storeys and a brick stack at the left end.
The entrance is set within a slightly projecting buttress that rises above the eaves, topped with a stone coping and a rectangular opening below it. The door is a ledged type set in an ashlar surround, with a carved quatrefoil panel above. On the ground floor, there are three stone mullioned windows, each with three lights and 4-centred arched openings filled with diamond lead lights. The first floor also has three similar windows, along with a small blocked window.
To the right of the house, there is a later infill building that connects it to The Old Library. This infill has rubble stone walls and a tiled roof, featuring garage doors on the ground floor, a 20th-century dormer with casements, and a 20th-century window under the eaves.
