The Old Vicarage, Including Front Boundary Wall And Gate

The Old Vicarage is a former vicarage, dating from the mid-19th century and now used as a private house. It is built of rubble stone with a slate roof, which is part gabled and part hipped, and has brick stacks located at the left end, centre, and near the right end. The building is two storeys and has an attic. The right section has a hipped roof, while the left section has a gabled roof at a lower level, but the whole appears to be of a single build. An ashlar porch with a tiled, gabled roof, coped gable, and projecting kneelers contains a part-glazed door and a 4-centred arched doorway. To the right of the porch, on the ground floor, is a three-light stone mullioned and transomed window with a hoodmould. To the left of the door is a similar three-light stone mullioned window with a hoodmould and diamond lead lights. To the left of this window is a similar five-light window. On the first floor, above the porch, is a three-light stone mullioned and transomed window with some lead lights. To the left of this are two two-light and one one-light stone mullioned windows with arched lights and cast iron lattice glazing. In the attic, above the porch, is a raised gable with a three-light stone mullioned window with arched lights and cast iron lattice glazing, and an ornamental bargeboard. A low front boundary wall supports a simple iron railing. The ashlar gatepiers are square diminishing to octagonal, with simple shaped tops, alongside simple iron gates. The building is included in the listing primarily for its group value.
