Description
Hill House is a large house, likely dating from the mid-18th century and altered in the early 19th century, now divided into six flats. It is constructed of rubble stone walls with ashlar dressings, with the exterior rendered in roughcast. The roof is hidden behind a parapet featuring a moulded cornice, and there are ashlar stacks with moulded caps. The building has an irregular L-shaped plan and stands three storeys high. The main front features ashlar quoins and an early 19th century ashlar porch with a moulded cornice and blocking course. The porch contains a flush panel round-headed door with a shell detail above the door, set within an arch with a flush keystone. On the ground floor are two two-light stone mullioned windows with flat mullions and sash windows with glazing bars. The first floor has two similar windows and a similar single-light window centrally placed. The second floor has similar windows, with the centre one having been altered. The rear section of the house features windows with chamfered mullions and hoodmoulds. The interior has been altered, but retains some 18th century doors and joinery.
