Description
No. 144 on Dorchester Road is a detached cottage, likely built in the 18th century. It features brick walls and a thatched roof, with a brick stack at one end. The cottage is one storey with an attic and has a later single-storey extension at the west end, which has an asbestos roof. There is a glazed porch on a brick base supported by timber angle columns, leading to a part-glazed door from the 20th century. The ground floor includes two casement windows with glazing bars, while the attic has two half-dormers with similar casements. The extension also has a 20th-century glazed door and window. Inside, the main ground floor room boasts a large open fireplace with a cambered timber lintel, along with the remains of a bread oven and possibly a curing chamber.
