Description
This is a semi-detached cottage, likely dating from the 18th century, though it may be of earlier origin. The cottage is built of plastered cob walls with a thatched roof, and features a brick stack at the right-hand end. It has one storey and an attic. A single-storey, 20th-century lean-to has been added to the rear. The front of the cottage has a part-glazed door and two casement windows with lead lights on the ground floor; one of these windows has a timber replacement opening light. The attic is lit by three half-dormers, each featuring a casement window with lead lights, one of which has a timber replacement opening light. Inside, both ground floor rooms contain large open fireplaces, one with a curved lintel and the other retaining a bread oven. Some exposed ceiling beams are also visible. The cottage is recorded in the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments as Monument 22, in Dorset Volume III.
