Description
The building is a school dated 1850 and an attached schoolhouse dated 1904, located on Stour Lane in Stour Provost. It is constructed of coursed squared rubble and features a gabled, tiled roof with bands of scalloped tiles. The school has a symmetrical layout with a single-storey main range and two-storey cross wings. The main range includes five window openings, with a central four-centred chamfered doorway in a square surround that has a returned label. The original door has vertical ribs. On either side of the doorway are three-light stone mullioned windows, each light topped with a four-centred head. The cross wings feature two-light stone mullioned windows both above and below, with all but the upper-floor left window having 20th-century casements with horizontal glazing bars. The upper-floor left window retains the original diamond pattern leaded lights. The cross wings also have a moulded string course. The schoolhouse includes two-light stone mullioned windows and a plank door.
