Description

Applegarth is a 17th-century cottage with 20th-century additions and alterations. It features rubble walls and a thatched roof, which is half-hipped on the left side and gabled on the right. There is a stone stack at the right end of the building. The cottage is one storey high with an attic and has a single range of windows, which are casements with glazing bars. Inside, there is a blocked open fireplace with an oven on one side and a stone vice on the other, as well as a round-headed alcove in the north wall. The rear of the cottage has 20th-century extensions. This building is a fairly rare example of a very small, surviving 17th-century cottage.
