Description

Sweet's Farmhouse is a 17th-century farmhouse constructed from coursed, squared rubble with a thatched roof that is hipped on the right and gabled on the left. It features brick stacks at the end of the ridge and to the right of the front door. The building is 1½ storeys high and has a four-window range, with three and four-light stone mullioned windows that have hollow chamfers and some with returned labels, although some are 20th-century replacements. A 20th-century gabled porch leads to a part-glazed door. There is a brick outshut on the left and a stone outshut on the right.

Internally, the original layout consisted of three rooms with a stack backing onto the cross-passage. The partition between the two main rooms has been removed, and the lower end room appears to have been partially rebuilt, likely in the 18th century. The open fireplace features a chamfered timber bressummer. The middle room has a ceiling with intersecting, deep chamfered beams and wall-plates, while the upper end room has deep, stop-chamfered beams. The room beyond the cross passage contains shallow chamfered beams, and there are remains of a fireplace with a chamfered, four-centred head upstairs.
