Description

This barn, located 20 meters north-east of Holwell House, dates from the 17th century. It features a combination of English bond brickwork and weatherboarded timber framing, topped with a corrugated iron roof. The barn has opposed plank double doors and originally consisted of four bays in an aisled construction, although the north aisle has since been removed. The roof structure includes collar and tie-beam trusses with queen posts, which represents an unusual form of barn construction for Dorset. Attached to the east is a 19th-century range of stalls with brick walls and a patent Roman tiled roof.
