Description
Brookhouse is a house dating from the 16th century, with additions from the 17th and 18th centuries. It is constructed of rubble and timber-frame with brick infill, and features a half-hipped thatched roof. The building has brick stacks at the ends, which may belong to the original structure. It is one and a half storeys tall with an irregular arrangement of windows. The house is designed in an L-shape, and some of the ground floor windows have brick dressings. Most windows are 2 and 3-light casements with glazing bars. There is a plank door located next to the left chimneystack.
Inside, the house features deep chamfered ceiling beams, with those in the north-west room intersecting to create a 9-panel ceiling. There is also an open fireplace with a cambered timber bressumer.
