Description

The Crown is an early 19th-century public house. It is built with rendered, colourwashed walls and has a shallow-pitched slate roof with brick stacks along the ridge. The building is two and three storeys high, with a seven-window facade arranged irregularly. The two right-hand bays have two-light casement windows with glazing bars. Most of the other windows are sashes of varying sizes, also with glazing bars. A central panelled door has a transom light above. Further doors are located in the second bay from the right and the second bay from the left. The building is described in Nikolaus Pevsner and John Newman’s The Buildings of England: Dorset.
