Description
The Digby Estate consists of two stone cottages, numbered 256 and 257, located on the west side of Westbury and dating from the 18th century or earlier. These two-storey buildings have later rendering and a plinth roof.
Cottage No. 257 features two 2-light casement windows with small panes on the first floor. On the ground floor, from left to right, there is a doorway with a segmental feature above it, a 19th-century shop window with moulded pilasters and an entablature, a four-flush panelled door in a frame, and a 2-light window with small panes.
Cottage No. 256 has three small modern 2-light casement windows above and two modern 2-light three-tier windows below. The doorway has a segmental feature above it and reeded moulding, with a four-panelled wood door and ledged reveals.
These premises are occupied by A and W Prout and are part of a group that includes Nos 4 and 6, the Britania Inn, Devonia House, Harley House, Penarth House, and Pinehaven, alongside the Old Mitre on Lower Acreman Street.
