Description

This is a late 18th-century house in a row, with alterations and extensions made in the mid-19th century. The front is of painted brickwork, the rear is rendered, and the roof is low-pitched slate. The building stands at an angle to accommodate the bend in Trinity Road, and incorporates a slight gabled wing at the rear with a brick lean-to.

The house is three storeys high and has four windows. The upper floor has four four-pane sash windows, set beneath chamfered lintels and stone sills. Below them are two-storey tripartite sash windows with twelve panes, set within elliptical bows, deep fascias, and a slight cornice. To the right of each of these bows on the first floor are twelve-pane sash windows. A wide six-panel fielded door, with an elliptical fanlight, is centrally positioned within a recessed elliptical-headed panel, flanked by a pilaster doorcase with Doric columns that have fluted neckings and a flat entablature. A further six-panel door with a plain transom light, in a similar pilaster surround with entablature, sits to the far right, representing number 2A. The eaves have widely spaced brackets paired to the windows. There are brick stacks behind the ridge and on the gable.

Inside the rear of the property, an arched staircase sash window has margin panes, accompanied by a smaller sash window below. The first-floor windows and roofline suggest a mid-19th century raising or rebuilding, although the lower part of the building exhibits fine 18th-century craftsmanship with slender glazing bars. The interior has not been inspected.
