Description
No. 4 Trinity Road is a house in a row with a restaurant, dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. The building is rendered with a scribed front and has a slate roof. It stands three storeys tall with an attic and features a two-window frontage. The lofty gabled dormers have horizontal sliding sashes, while the second floor has 12-pane sashes in moulded flush boxes.
Prominently on the first floor is a tripartite oriel bow window with 12:12:12 panes, topped with a dentilled cornice, above a sill band that supports a full-width band of fishtail tile hanging. The ground floor showcases a full-width late 19th-century shop front, which includes a glazed door on two steps to the left and a six-panel door to the right, accompanied by a painted-over fanlight in a deep reveal and also on two steps. The display window features a circular centre panel and transom lights above, all sheltered by a flat canopy on brackets.
The building has a moulded stone cornice, blocking, and parapet coping that returns at the ends. No stacks are visible, and the right gable is slate-hung. The rear of the building is also parapeted and includes a central 16-pane sash window, with another sash window, possibly for the staircase, located lower left. Additionally, a pair of French doors leads to a flat-roofed extension. The interior has not been inspected.
