Description

This is a pair of early 19th-century houses located on Chamberlain Road in Wyke Regis, near Weymouth. The front is rendered, with English garden wall brickwork visible on the returns, while the rear is constructed of stone. The houses have a slate roof. They are two storeys and have an attic, each with a single window facing the front. A centrally placed flat-roofed dormer is present, the right-hand side having a slightly segmental head above the window. Four-pane sash windows with moulded face boxes are found at No. 28, and replacement sash windows of a similar style are at No. 26. Centred doorways are sheltered by ogee tent-hoods supported by trellis standards and accessed by two steps. Wide eaves and substantial brick stacks are present on each gable. The rear wall, in Portland stone block, features large flush stone quoins at No. 26. A central, deep gabled range is also present on the rear, including a two-light casement with small panes. The roof slopes back to the main eaves with a half-hipped end. The interior has not been inspected.
