Description
31 Crescent Street is a mid-19th century house attached to the rear of the Royal Crescent on the Esplanade, with its gable end facing Crescent Street. The building is rendered and has a slate roof. It consists of two parts: on the left, a narrow section with raised coped gables and plain eaves, and on the right, a broader section with a plain parapet covering a hipped roof, which extends to the right with a false parapet leading to a lower section. The house has two storeys and features one window on the left and two on the right, all of which are plain sashes, except for one 12-pane sash located on the first floor to the right. The narrow front has paired sashes with cambered heads and stone sills on both levels, while the main section includes two-storey canted bays topped with ogee-curved hipped cappings and a panelled apron between the floors. Between the bays, there is a six-panel fielded door with a narrow transom light, sheltered by a tent hood on trellis cheeks. The ground floor is channelled and returns to Crescent Street with a chamfered corner supported by a corbel. There are brick stacks on the left gable and to the right of the hipped roof. The interior has not been inspected.
