Description
Brookside and Pond Cottage is a pair of semi-detached cottages, likely from the 18th century, though they may have earlier origins. Brookside features brick walls and a thatched roof, with a brick chimney stack at the left end and a plastered stack at the right end, which it shares with Pond Cottage. The building is two storeys tall and has a single-storey extension at the left end, which was probably a former outbuilding made of brick with a slate roof. This extension includes two casement windows with glazing bars and a fixed window where a doorway used to be. The main house has a ledged door set in a 20th-century gabled porch. The ground floor has two 20th-century metal windows, while the first floor has one casement window with cast iron lights.
Pond Cottage has plastered cob walls and a hipped thatched roof with a catslide extension on the right side. It shares the plastered chimney stack with Brookside and is also two storeys tall. The ground floor features one casement window with glazing bars and another with cast iron lights, while the first floor has two similar windows. The entrance is located at the rear, and some exposed ceiling beams can be seen inside.
