Description
Brookside and Brookside Cottage are a house and cottage dating from the early 19th century and mid 17th century. They are constructed of pebbledashed rubble with a slate roof, while Brookside Cottage features a stone-slate roof. The building stands two storeys high. The early 19th century house is on the left and consists of three bays, with a central entrance and end stacks. To the right are two 17th century bays, although the left-hand 17th century bay now belongs to Brookside House. The 19th century windows are sashed with glazing bars and set in plain stone surrounds. The door to Brookside House has a chamfered surround. The 17th century windows are rebated and chamfered, featuring mullions and individual hood moulds. The left-hand bay has two-light windows, while the right side has a four-light window on the first floor. The ground-floor right-hand window is partly blocked and has a fixed window with glazing bars. A doorway with plain reveals cuts across the former window jamb on the left. The right-hand gable has a one-light chamfered window on each floor and a chimney.
