Description

West Morden Farm House is a detached farmhouse with origins in the late 16th and early 17th centuries, and which was altered and enlarged during the 18th century. It is constructed of brick with tiled roof, stone eaves courses, brick copings to the gables including kneelers, and brick end and centre stacks. The building follows an L-shaped plan and has two storeys and attics. A plat band runs along the first-floor level. The main range features a doorway close to a projecting wing, accessed via a trellised porch with a slate lean-to roof and a part-glazed door. On the ground floor are two casement windows with glazing bars; the first floor has three similar windows. The gable end of the projecting wing has two 20th-century French doors with glazing bars, and a small casement window with glazing bars illuminates the attic. A lower, single-storey extension is situated on the south side, also with a tiled roof. The interior has been modernised. The farmhouse is recorded in the Royal Commission on Historical Monuments as Monument 32.
