Description
Sterndale Cottage is a detached cottage located in Melbury Osmond, dating from the early 17th century, with the possibility of an earlier core. The building features rubble-stone walls and quoins, topped with a thatched roof that is hipped on the left side and gabled on the right. There are early 20th-century brick stacks positioned at the center of the ridge and on the right gable, along with a 20th-century stack on the rear eaves. The cottage is 1.5 storeys high and has two windows on the ground floor, which are 3-light wood casements with glazing bars. The first floor contains 2-light cast iron casements, also with glazing bars. A plank door, which is from the 20th century, is located to the right of the center.
