Description

Apple Tree Cottage is a range of buildings dating from the 18th century or earlier. It comprises three separate parts (numbered 9, 10, and formerly 8).

Number 9 has one window bay and a door. It has a modern slate gabled roof and a colourwashed rendered front. A splayed bay extends to both the ground and first floors on its left side, featuring modern casement windows. A modern half-glazed door is situated on the right side, topped with a flat hood supported by brackets.

Number 10 has a slate gabled roof and a roughcast front. A passage leads to Prospect Place at its left-hand end, while a small curved modern bay is present on both floors to the right of the passage. A further modern half-glazed door is positioned to the right again, with a peaked canopy above.

The part that was formerly number 8 has two bays, widely spaced. It originally had a thatched roof and a colourwashed front. The first floor featured a flush-framed sash window to the left and a three-light casement window with small wood panes to the right. The ground floor had a thatched canopy over a modern half-glazed door to the left and a modern window to the right.

Apple Tree Cottage, along with numbers 6 to 10 and 13 to 19, and numbers 35 to 37, forms a group of buildings of group value.
