Rospannel Farmhouse And Adjoining Former Cottage

Rospannel Farmhouse and the adjoining former cottage are likely from the 18th century, with remodels and extensions made around the mid-19th century. The buildings are constructed from roughly-coursed granite rubble with granite dressings and feature grouted scantle slate roofs. There are dressed granite chimneys at the gable ends of the farmhouse and a brick chimney on the right-hand gable end of the cottage, along with an external stack on the left side of the house. The property has cast-iron ogee gutters.

The farmhouse has a double depth plan with two rooms at the front, a central entrance hall, and shallow service rooms at the rear. There is a projection between the stair and the parlour to accommodate a dresser in the service room behind. The adjoining cottage originally had a two-room plan but is now configured as a one-room space.

The exterior features two storeys with unaltered elevations. The nearly symmetrical southeast front of the house has three windows and a central doorway, with original openings. It includes a 20th-century door and glazed porch, as well as late 19th or 20th-century six-pane horned sash windows. The cottage has a two-window front with a doorway located in what was formerly a window opening on the left.

Inside, the farmhouse displays mid-19th-century carpentry and joinery. The left-hand room, or parlour, has a plaster ceiling, while the right-hand room features moulded ceiling beams. There is a large granite fireplace located in the right-hand end of the former cottage.
