Description
2 and 6 Duporth Road is a small house and two cottages dating from the early to mid 19th century. They are constructed of killas rubble with timber lintels or segmental brick arches above the openings. The buildings have a shallow-depth plan, with the house originally consisting of two rooms flanking a central entrance hall, while the cottages on either side each have one room and an entrance hall to one side.
The exterior features two storeys and a window arrangement of 2:1:2. The house on the left has a symmetrical two-window front with late 19th century or 20th century four-pane horned sashes. The house also retains its original six-panel door, which has flush panels with the top two panels later glazed. The adjoining cottage doorway has been fitted with a window. The cottage on the right has a blocked window on the first floor to the right and a pair of sashes on the ground floor to the right, along with a 20th century glazed and panelled door on the left.
The interior has not been inspected. This building is part of an important and little altered group in the former fishing and china clay port, and it is included for its group value.
