Description
The lime kiln, located 20 metres east of Pont Creek House, is a disused structure dating from the early 19th century. It is built from rubble stone with large quoins and features round brick arches on both the west and east elevations. The kiln has a square plan and a flat top, and it is built into the side of a steep hill to allow for top loading. The openings have deeply splayed reveals and are blocked at the rear. At the time of assessment, the kiln was covered in foliage. This lime kiln, along with another located on the opposite side of the creek, is situated near the quayside of Pont Pill, an area that historically provided good facilities for loading and unloading.
