8/87 Lime kiln 5 metres to north-west - of Pont Creek Farmhouse

GV II

Lime kiln, disused, circa early C19. Rubble stone with large quoins and round brick arches to openings in centres of north and east elevations. Square in plan with flat top. Built into side of steep hill to facilitate top loading. Openings have deeply splayed reveals and are blocked to rear. Top not accessible. This lime kiln together with lime kiln on opposite side of creek (q.v. lime kiln 5 metres to east of Pont Creek House) is situated near the quayside of Pont Pill where there were good facilities for loading and unloading.
