Description
The lime kiln, located 5 metres to the north-west of Pont Creek Farmhouse, is a disused structure dating from the early 19th century. It is constructed from rubble stone with large quoins and features round brick arches at the openings on the north and east elevations. The kiln has a square plan and a flat top, built into the side of a steep hill to allow for top loading. The openings have deeply splayed reveals and are blocked at the rear, with the top not being accessible. This lime kiln, along with another lime kiln located on the opposite side of the creek, is situated near the quayside of Pont Pill, where there were good facilities for loading and unloading.
